I've never been to Taiwan yet, but am interested in teaching ESL there. How much is the cost of living in Taipei. For example, how much would the following cost?

-Monthly rent of an apartment if sharing with a roommate (of an apartment that has a kitchen, fridge, and stove), and in a nice, but not necessarily the most expensive part of Taipei

-Utilities, if splitting with a roommate

-Avg. deposit that might be expected before moving in

-Comfortable (but not living like a king) cost of food each month if most food is bought from the grocery store but I were to go to a fast food place once in a while

-Transportation costs per month for public transportation (cost of a monthly pass if there is such a thing)

-Cost of eating at a nice, but not fancy restaurant

-Monthly cell phone service, plus the cost of buying an actual cell phone, sim card

-By the way, how much per minute does it usually cost to make calls to the US?

-Cost of internet service per month, plus the cost of installation (by the way, how much do laptops run for in Taiwan?)

-Cost of doing laundry (machine + detergent) per month?

-Cost of a haircut

-Cost of seeing a movie at a local cinema

-Avg. of monthly membership at a local gym for weightlifting
