|
|
It has become obvious to me that my new school will not
be able to provide me with a Z visa.
Any suggestions on where to find a uni job this time of year ?
I have always been in middle schools, but I would like to give
uni's a try this time.
All info or PM's appreciated. |

Maybe try universities - that's a good place to find a university job.
How is it that your new school can't provide your a proper visa? Are you in China now? Are you working there (the new school) now? |

Not sure why there is a problem. That is one of the problems, an almost total lack of communication.
Yes, I am in China now.
I have tried finding info for contacting universities directly, but many of the email addresses and phone numbers listed on their websites do not seem to work. |

There are many lists of numbers online - you have to do a hard core search of specific universities you want.
Also, if you search Google you will find a list of licensed schools to hire foreigners - though the list I found is current only as of 2008.
In the end, when I was searching for schools - I found e-mails that didn't work as well. So, I found other email addresses on the sites (dean presidents, webmasters, etc.) and made sure I had a clear message written in Chinese to forward to the appropriate person/department. Even a simple subject of you being a foreigner seeking employment (written in Chinese) and/or a sentence or two in the body to have it sent to the correct people. In this manner, I received replied 90% of the time I would estimate.
If you are working at the 'new school' then you do comprehend and admit working illegally ? No work visa thus no F.E.C. or Resident Permit?

There are some Unis in China that have slots to fill, even though the academic year has started.
That said, we will honestly ask "why?"
Bad recruitment? Unorganized? Low pay?
Maybe, maybe not. But there are some Uni that need to fill vacancies. And asking about their support of your visa cost and hurdles should be one of the most important questions, as you know.
I think every country in East Asia has put so many costs and bureaucratic hurdles to us to go work and teach and pay taxes there, that I am seriosly wondering if it's even worth it anymore. |

Hi,
Could someone tell me how to write this in Chinese? (the part about "foreigner seeking employment"). (I don't speak Chinese or have Chinese speaking friends). So with the "cold calling" approach, should I send all my documents (ie. copy of passport photo page, degree transcripts, etc.) or just CV, cover letter, photo and references?
I have been looking around on some of the major job websites and most seem to cover mainly private language schools and universities in remote areas. Are there are any job websites which are university specific? |
