Please read the following carefully. Would anyone who is currently working for EE in Saudi describe the experience? If you aren't currently working there please don't opine here. If you prefer send me a private communication. I'm wondering how the visitors visas have turned out.

Dear EFL grunt,

EE is not so bad. They are conforming to our demands. Although they do not negotiate with terrorists. Get your visa and bug out on the first C140 over here STAT.

IMHO I have no qualms with them at all. However, I am acclimatized to this culture being that it's my second tour of duty here. Think of it as Vietnam and there is no hope in Heck that your gonna win the war. It don't mean nothin.

My visa was extended no problem and I have already booked my flight for our semester break. I will get another visa issued (Govt. visit visa) in the country that I have chosen to go on holiday.

Others have gone on previous holidays and have had their visas issued to a Saudi Embassy in their country of choise with no problems.

Go for it. We need the teachers here. I'm sick of substituting for the missing personnel here.

Regards.

TLOH

My visitor visa lasted 7 weeks and when I was paid late I complained. Then I was fired. EdEx is a sketchy at best bunch of cretins without the financial resources to make pay on time or pay the accommodations.

They have been successfully taken to court by another ex-teacher. What does that tell you?

Like the oldtimers have advised on this and other threads -

Go direct hire only.
Do not come on a "business" or any other kind of "xyz" visa. Legitimate Employment visa with Residence Permit ("Iqama") is the only one.

DIRECT HIRE !!!

Scott, reading various posts about EE who also sent me a contract even though I'm 65. and it appears
from experience and from what you and others say direct hire is the way - not through a contractor.

for some reason my NIKON logon will not open, so I'm using another handle now, a funny animal found here south of the border- CAPIVARA-
Cheers to all Nikon!

Once your 3 month's business visa is over, they should transfer employees to an Iqama. Recently, I was offered a business visa to come here quickly and told after 3 month's, I'd be transferred to an Iqama.

When you say direct hire, who with EE or the college or University?

I've been asked to post this:

"Many of the guys here in KSA use Skype, so apparently the program itself is not blocked. My problem is that when I go t the main Skype website and click "download" the site instantly switches to Arabic. Worse yet, there isn't the customary button to click to switch back to English.

Sometimes I can actually download the program (or actually a link to download it) but all I get is an error message, an alternate download site, and then another error message.

No matter what I do, I can't get around this. I tried CNET, but that didn't work either--same problem: Arabic.

I was advised to get a VPN, but I don't know how to do that, and it seems like a huge project. If other guys can use Skype successfully here, it seems as if I ought to be able to as well (inshallah).

Any ideas?"
