|
|
I want to apply for the PGDE in Hong Kong, starting academic year 2011-2012.
I have looked at the main places which offer the course; HKU, and HKIED and fees etc. I have a working visa, so that's fine.
Just wondered if anyone had any experience/advice with regards to applying/ doing the PGDE in Hong Kong?
Thank you,
B |

HKIED is out in the sticks. If I were you I'd do it through HKU - probably a bit more progressive, and a nice campus close to the centre of things ... |

No direct experience, but I know 3 people who did it at HKU in the last couple of years and, apart from minor grumbles, were happy enough. The one who finished last year got onto the NET scheme this year. |

Depends too on your financies. Housing would be cheaper out in the sticks near HKIED. You'd pay a lot more to be down near HKU. |

The PGDE aimed at secondary school teaching at HKU has a fairly decent reputation. I know several people who have done it, and no major issues raised. |

hi i'm a newbie here though I stumbled across dave's esl cafe a few years back when I started searching for information on the PGDE
i've finally sat down and applied to the HKU primary stream PGDE as well as the HKIED one.
I originally wanted to apply to the HKBU one as it's closer to home but it seems that you need to be able to read chinese? I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or information regarding HKBU?
Also, technically I haven't decided if I want to teach primary or secondary yet, is it possible to switch between the two? I've only decided that I need to change my career!!! |
