Could anyone point me towards a resource that defines "Level III English" according to US Department of State standards?
Thank you,

Hi kazpat,
Sorry. Maybe it was a really large typo? A careless cut-and-paste job? Who's asking? Can you ask whether they otherwise subscribe to the ILR scale? The ACTFL? WIDA? ICAO? More locally, maybe they're in Miami, in which case I'm sure you can default to the M-DCOLPS-R (Miami-Dade County Oral Language Proficiency Scale-Revised). You get the idea. Here's a link that may comport with your employer's(?) scale/expectation, with resources for specific guidance as to what, exactly, SFSU considers to be Level III English:

Hi,
Thanks, I will check the link out. I am actually asking on behalf of an aquaintance. I think it is a private contractor in Afghanistan that has a contract with the DOS and they need to have their foreign employees at this level per the terms of said contract .
I could not find anything on a google search and thought I would ask here.

The levels here apply to the State Department, as well as many other U.S. government institutions. |

Sweet...
Nice work smithrn1983. So it is the ILR scale. And the SFSU scale is also 1-5, so the materials they provide should also be helpful. Ask and ye shall receive. |
