Have you all noticed that the internet firewall here seemed to get more strict recently? My workarounds all failed in the last few days and I had to spend a little time to find another one (google ultrasurf if you're in the same boat)

I wonder why the cyber cops suddenly cracked down here? ...

Hmmm...

There's never been a block on Facebook that I and all my VN friends didn't get around in about 5 minutes. The pointlessness of it is hilarious, and all it's doing is making young Vietnamese realise how anachronistic their government is.

I have noticed this as well and yesterday I downloaded a Tor browser free off the internet Twisted Evil Works like a trick for Facebook (can read and post but for some reason the 'chat ' feature doesn't seem to work (which I personally don't think is any great loss)). As Deadlift mentioned I am sure there are other ways around the censorship (if other posters know a better method it would be great to hear from you), but for me Tor seems OK for now. Anyway I have put the link for Tor below in case anyone is interested. It's pretty easy to install and use, but if there any problems feel free to PM me or post on this thread.

Hear, hear! The vast, vast majority of people who use Facebook simply use it as a social network to stay in touch with friends and family. Absolutely nothing wrong with that although, for certain personality types, it seems to become somewhat addictive Wink Sure it has the potential to be used for political activities, but so do a lot of things. Blocking Facebook simply encourages people to visit sites like Tor so they can once again get their 'Facebook fix'. Once they have installed a programme that thrawts censorships then the state has lost all control. People can view whatever website they want (many of which are also blocked and would be considered far more 'harmful' than Facebook) completely anonymously. Actually, on second thoughts, forget what I wrote before - the blocking of Facebook could be a great thing! Vive la Vietnamese censorship Twisted Evil

Thanks so much Ista Very Happy That seems much better than Tor (quicker and who knows possibly even safer as well). Tor hasn't caused any problems on my computer yet (of course I scanned it and read up about it before downloading), but you can never be too careful.

Never had any issues with TOR myself....only thing was that it just seemed incredibly slllooooowwwww.........

Haven't been on Facebook for a while, I guess that Google Public DNS and OpenDNS no longer work to get on it??

If that's the case, I'd probably go with UltraSurf then!
