|
|
XJT-LU at Suzhou is an excellent employer; work conditions are the best I have experienced in China. Generally XJTLU's accomodation arrangments are also very good but there have recently been problems with the R&D Apartments complex.
1. Power supply is posing problems and management expect teachers to simply limit the use of appliances rather than accept that their supply is sub-standard (eg. if you have an air-con and your hot water system on, you can't use an electric jug or the TV at the same time.) The power supply is definitely 3rd world standard, but management blames teachers for the problem, refusing to recognise the inadequacy of their own system.
2. R&D will not accept payment of rent by ANY form of card - credit or debit. Cash is insisted upon.
3. R&D will not accept payment in December for rent beyond 31 December. Allegedly, a receipt cannot be issued to cover a period beyond 31 December. Under this ridiculous system teachers are forced to pay only until 31 December and then given only 3 days leeway to pay January's rent.
It is strongly suggested that anyone starting at XJTLU take one of the other accommodation options (Scholars Apartments or MBA Apartments) rather than stay at R&D Apartments (Ke Yan Gong Yu) |

I have an upcoming interview with XJTLU. I noticed that there have been some very negative comments about this university in the past.
Does anyone have more current information? ie, management, students, workload, holiday, etc...Thanks! |
