Can someone give me a comparison for the nightlife/club/salsa/bar scene of the four cities I'm interested in:
Cartegenia
Bogota
Cali
Medellin
I've been dreaming of going to Colombia to perhaps teach for the longest time. I've yet to do it, but always thinking about it. |

I used to live in Colombia.
The clubs close at midnight in Bogota and Cali is soon to follow, probably all the rest as well.
Hence, when I lived there and we wanted to go out, we usually drove 2 hours to a club outside of the city and 2 hours home. I forget the names of the clubs already but if you speak Spanish you can check out some things on the web.
Now's not really the time to go. The economy is terrible and it's really not that safe especially if you are going to stand out as a foreigner.
Trust me- I have family there and I would love to live there again. My advice is to wait til things are a little more under control. You won't be sorry when you do go though- it's one of the most beautiful countries in the world- if you get out of the cities. |
