I see a couple times in the last few years there have been requests for info regarding the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies without success.


How about now? Anyone know anything about them they'd like to share?

the information is late but maybe this will help. unless things have changed, they teach ielts prep to their students. i think there may be some courses like english for banking, but primarily ielts prep. they were interested at one point in starting an academic english program but i didn't pass. if that happens, it might be a fairly nice place to work. that's, of course, if the package is worth it.

it seemed to be well managed and the admin who i have met were pleasant enough.

it's an international student population, and that's always a plus in my opinion.

this information is PRE-economic crash, so things may have changed.

This institute on Muroor road caters mainly for young emiratis and Arab business people.practiacally all the teaching goes on in the evening and a lot of staff-no Americans or European staff which should tell you something.There's an awful lot of plagerism going on and badgering of staff to get grades upgraded/reviewed etc.The main office in Sharjah controls things-not always to Abu Dhabi's liking.There's a British/Pakistani guy who runs the day to day teaching and he's fairly ok,but he is essentially a"company man".The hourly rate is great but the fulltime package can have you working long hours with not much "admin"support.Most of the part-time staff allow a lot of,erm"leeway'in the students grades,to avoid them ganging up on you and getting you removed.
