Hello All,
I have been here in Kabul and Northern Afghanistan for 5 years. Had a pretty good time and was OFFERED a position i.e., was shortlisted and just received the contract.
The job is for DLI instructors in Kabul and it pays well. I have felt safe here in Afghanland for a while but DO NOT GO TO KABUL and work with the military. My bf is in security and I have inside info. This job pays so well bcs it is going to be very dangerous. They have plenty of applicants and those who will also get the Sec. Clearance. I would not go and I have worked in the Mid-east and central Asia for many years. This is a NO GO. You will (a certain % of the 15 people) die there. I am a muslim also - but I am not a radical. The attitude people have when I say I am muslim is usually bad so I don't say it - but believe me - this is a bad bet, even for 15,000USD a month.
Just warning you -- wait and see..
Good luck to you all.... |

People risk their lives for all kinds of things. Money happens to be one of them. It is what it is and if someone is willing to risk their own lives for $$ I guess it is their lives. Not to sure if any amount money is worth risk your life, but it is can also be said you risk your life by just driving or walking. |

Here in Afghanistan, DLI courses are seen as "icing on the cake" for the Afghan security forces. They're just part of the "feel-good factor" for the coalition forces. Nobody really cares whether or not the Afghans actually learn anything. Last I heard the courses were at Bagram airbase. The instructors never left the base. Working for the military or a security firm is always risky. Working for private NGO or local (non-Muslim) aid/charity organizations carries even more risks. You'll be labeled "Christian aid workers" by the media and become another "civilian casualty" before you know it. |

you will be perceived as working for the Occupying Power. Quite rightly too. Do not do it. Support our forces in Afghanistan. Bring them home. |

I dont think thinking working any conflict zone is a wise idea nor do I think risking your life for money is wise either. However, people, foolishly, will still continue to make choices to work for Organizations which we have all warned them against. |
