|
|
During a meeting with a visiting British Consular Warden (from Beijing) during October this year, it was mentioned by the warden that if one wants to get a new Z visa next year after March, then one must return to one's home country to apply for it.
Has anyone else heard this? |

This has been the case for a while in (at least some of) the big cities. You don't have to go back to get your residence permit renewed. |

How big are these cities?
So are you saying if one intends to work in a smaller city, then one can quite likely get a new Z visa (not renew Z visa btw) from, say, Hong Kong after March 2011?

Even in big cities, some government schools have enough guanxi to get visa's converted without needing to send you to Hongkong. Beijing, Shanghai, Hongkong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Chengdu, Dalian are the big cities.
Outside of these cities things are much different because there are not so many foreigners around, let's say in hohot inner mongolia. Maybe there is a handful, but not many, so it's much easier in those places to grease the wheels & get things done even if it contrary to what the official government policy is. |

in which big cities is it the case that the psb/foreign expert
office will refuse to note on the invitation letter that you will
apply for your z-visa at the chinese embassy in xxxx country?
is this official policy? or is it that some fao's simply don't
know how to handle z-visas for applicants outside of their
home country?
is the brit consular dude correct? is it a new policy? has the law
been passed, or just under discussion? did he provide some sort
of reference? does it apply to everyone, or just certain nationalities? |
