Is it possible for a person to live in Hanoi with just tutoring jobs? |

Don't see why not.....if ya git enough of 'em! Let's pretend a nice, round 500,000VND per hour and two hours of tutoring per day is a Mil per day (and weekends off) and 20 Million VND per month.......seems do-able to me...... |

Yeah.....true - MAYBE a bit on the high side....but 400,000VND/hr is par for the course if you've been around a little bit and know the game..... |

This website might give you an idea of what's available and the pay for private tutoring in Hanoi.
I pay $400 a month for rent in the heart of the Old Quarter near Hoan Kiem lake, which is by no means cheap, or super expensive. Food at cheaper western eateries ranges from $3 to $5 a meal incl. drinks. Rice food places (rice plus a variety of side dishes you choose yourself) cost about $1 to $2 for a large meal depending on what you choose for your side dishes. Bus to work is 0.15 cents, taxi home in the evening is about $3 (based on approx 7 km journey). |
