Hi colleagues,

I have been invited for a second round of interview with kaplan panel at Abu Dhabi for the English teacher post. Can any one of you who has had a second interview tell me the main areas I should focus on for the interview? You can put them here or via my email [email protected]

Thanks

Mark

Sorry that I can't answer your question, but have you perchance seen this article about Kaplan and their practices:

Another sleazy organization hits the Gulf. Rolling Eyes

Hi Mark,

Make sure you specify AbuDhabi in writing straight away if that's where you want to be. Though Kaplan seem to have developed quite a reputation, I found the Kaplan crew to be very pleasant and professional. It was the interaction with IAT that turned me off, and they would be your bosses at the end of the day. Perhaps you will see things differently. Don't expect any wiggle room on salary/benefits.

Be ready to talk about all EAP experience you have. The second interview will probably be with someone with Kaplan who lives in the UAE. You should show that you have some reasonable idea of the cultural change in store and how you plan to keep your students interested and motivated. How would you go about introducing a new grammar point to a very large class and how would you have them practise it? What would you do to encourage students to practise their English after school? Have questions ready.

Good luck!

Mark,
Don't know why they are going to so much trouble. All these interviews and some have have been subjected to three !!! REPUTABLE organizations can figure it out after one. But hey maybe after all this you will be so grateful to accept the Kraplan conditions and very low salary to work your butt off .

Their package is NOT attractive and pretty bad compared to other organizations. Hope you are not planning on bring family as you will have to decide which kid you can afford to educate on the DH60,000 they will give per family per year and who you will take on vacation as tickets only apply to you and 1 dependent.

The previous poster also gave good advice. Do not accept the Western region aka Madinat Zayed.

xray
