|
|
I read somewhere, on an expat forum/site, that the quality of the internet connection in Chieng Mai wasn't so great. I'm thinking about moving there when my gig here in Korea finishes in mid December.
If I move there, I may be looking for a job and/or I may be trying to make enough to live with some internet talents that I have. Point is....if the internet service isn't reasonably good, it wouldn't do for me.
Anybody know?
Thanks,

Average ADSL speeds are 4mb down and 0.5mb up (and often slower even though this may be your contracted speed). Latency is often high and dropped packets (10% or more) is a common problem.
If your "internet job" requires high speed upstream (on-line teacher) then you are screwed. The best available service is only 12mb down and 1mb up (still too slow for decent video conference).

After living here for the past 14 months I've come to the conclusion that internet is sh** almost everywhere. I am actually at an internet shop right now because I had to make some calls home and wanted a decent connection. My apartment has really crappy internet and so does the school where I teach. I am not the only one who has constant issues with internet here |

It may not be very good, but it's better than Bangkok. |

I really doubt that.
I am on the 50mb True Ultra High Speed package in Bangkok and its pretty sharp. I don't believe Chiang Mai is anywhere near that. |

I've got 56kb here in Alaska (although most things download at around 10kb due to the server location), how does it stack up against that? |
