Hello,
I'm having issues with the medical certificate for the cultural assistants program. What specific blood work do they want? My application is almost complete, but the only thing holding me back is this medical clearance.
Please help![/quote] |

I know this is a bit old, but people use the search function, so I hope this helps someone: From the docs I've seen about the medical check for the language assistant programme, you will need to ask the consulate for specific details. |

FYI This is what the program manual for the language and culture assistant program gives as an example for the medical certificate (the consulates seem to have a much more general form, but check with each one, they also seem to have different requirements):
"This health certificate verifies that Mr./Ms ...... is free of drug addiction, mental illness and does not suffer from any disease that could cause serious repercussions to public health according to the specifications of the international sanitary regulation of 2005.
These contagious diseases include, but are not limited to smallpox, poliomyelitis by wild poliovirus, the human influenza caused by a new subtype of virus and the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), cholera, pneumonic plague, yellow fever, viral hemorrhagic fevers (e.g.: Ebola, Lassa, Marburg), West Nile Virus and other illnesses of special importance nationally or regionally (e.g.: Dengue Fever, Rift Valley Fever and meningococcal disease.)
Ms./Mr. ______________ is a very healthy individual in all senses, she/he has no pre-existing medical conditions, and she/he is capable of traveling abroad." |

More or less, how much did it cost you to get that form? It is just a matter of showing the doc your records or is there blood work involved? |

I honestly couldn't say what it costs - I'm still in college so I went to my school's health center, which I've already paid a fee for so I didn't pay for the visit. I did have to get a Tb test done though. When I went it was more a matter of making sure all my vaccines were up to date, the Tb test, and the doctor asking me if I'd been sick recently or been to any tropical countries, or anywhere where yellow fever, dengue etc is endemic. |

naturegirl321 - I've actually already been accepted (they've been getting more organized I think, the first placements started to go out mid March), and I'll be in a school near Albacete in the reigon of Castilla la Mancha. |
