The originator of this thread sure gets around. I don't know if he is for real or not. Here is some of his work:

and this one:

To all respondants to this string:
Has anyone encountered the situation of having to sue an employer. As this string has shown, Longre had asked me to work ilegally in China (without a valid greencard and work visa). I had to leave China for this reason (at my own expense) and be without work. Does anyone know of a contact for information on international courts?

There is a thread somewhere on one of these China boards within the last 3-6 months where a FT sued the school that defaulted on the contract; I think it was in Shanghai...
It had good info on the way to go about it & who to contact for help.

do a search on law layers - contract disputes attorney..

I didnt read the listed threads yet, it sounds like ESLteacher has already started the ball rolling though saying he talked to a lawyer, I hope he follows through to the end & makes the school pay. If he doesnt, the school will just keep doing it to others.

`Good luck.

I dont have time to deal with any Doubting Thomas` at the moment. The saga continues. Today i was informed that i would be terminated at the end of my probationary period. March 30/04. I received a letter saying i did not pass probation with self serving reasons (based on twisted facts and non-truths). I was told i must continue to work to the end of the month with no mention in the letter of money i will receive for my time there.

I had asked my visa to be processed as promissed by the school, as they are asking me to continue working. The request was denied.

My request to have the notice contain the amount i will be paid and the date i will receive it (like any normal termination notice), was received with an uncomfortable response and in fact, no answer. Typicall.

So, as it stands, my contract has been broken, im being terminated, being asked to work without a proper visa and no promise to receive money for my time teaching at the school.

Im not going to comment on how pathetic the program is there and how ripped off parents are for sending their children there. You see based on my last posting, the incompetant staff at the school started to change things at the school from the tidbits i commented on their program. Rest assured their program is still useless and a rip-off at best.

The big losers in this are the students and their parents. If i were a parent i would call the school with an educator by their side to ask questions; then compare to other schools in Beijing. If i were a parent i would talk with Montessorial schools in Beijing. I have been to one and they have very good programs! I emphasize, very good programs! Im guessing the cost will be in the range of an International School like the Korean one.

For the sceptics, Re: my credibility. I have a degree in Engineering, Graduate Diploma, MBA enrolled, attended Teacher`s College and have taught languages in Canada, Italy, Japan and China.
