Does anybody know if ITTO helps with the apostille process (college diploma)? When I first signed up with them a couple of months ago, I asked them about paperwork I would need to work in Mexico. They told me that for the time being my passport would suffice. Now, I'm about to leave in a couple of weeks, and despite the fact that I've sent them two emails asking for specifics, they haven't sent me any more information regarding what I will need. I'm obviously pretty frustrated with the lack of communication, but there's not much I can do about it at this point besides turn here for advice.

Sorry to hear that ITTO hasn't been more helpful. In any event, they can't help you get apostilles for your documents; that's something you have to do yourself while you're still in your home country. Once you finish your course with them and start looking for legitimate work, you will need more than your passport to apply for an FM3, a residence visa that can also give you permission to work, either for a particular school or on your own. Depending on where you end up, to apply for the FM3, apart from your passport, you will need several documents including college diplomas with apostilles and possibly your birth certificate with apostille, to mention the most important.

If you are doing your course at ITTO, that certificate issued in Mexico is all you will need to satisfy immigration for the work permit. No apostilling needed. You do not have to worry about also having your college diploma or birth certificate apostilled for Immigration purposes, (especially if your college diploma is not teaching related.) So don't worry. They probably don't understand why you are worried about it, since it's a non-issue.

Thank you for your responses. They did finally get back to me today. I will post the list of suggested items to bring in case anyone else has a similar query in the future.

*The latest copy of your C.V./rsum on a disc.

*Wherever you intend to work, it is necessary to have your Birth Certificate or a notarized copy in order to obtain a work permit.

*A copy of any degree certificates you may have.

*If you are planning to teach in Europe and Asia, you must have your degrees or certificates apostilled. (If you need guidance regarding this issue please contact us for assistance).

*Finally, we strongly encourage considering travel insurance for your time abroad. This can usually be obtained from your local travel agent or through a broker. Please note that ITTO does not provide travel or health insurance.

They made quite a bit of that up to keep you happy, I suspect.

Yes I agree with Samantha. In the past few years I have taken at least 15 people to immigration to help them get their FM3, or in a couple of cases, FM2, and NO ONE has ever been asked for a Birth Certificate. If you have a college degree, though, I would have it apostilled if you can do it easily from where you are. Not that immigration will need it, they wont, but some employers might want to see it, especially if it is even vaguely related to ESL. And, some employers (not a lot, but some) ask for a degree and a TESOL certificate. And, as someone already pointed out, if your certificate is issued in Mexico you dont need an apostille, only if its foreign.

I brought my birth certificate with me and had it apostilled while I was still in the US but have never needed it here, at least not to get my FM3. But who knows what the future will hold Question
