|
|
As somebody currently MPWP less I'm curious about the rumour going around that as of the 1st January 2011 the dreaded 2.5 million fiskal tax for both Indonesian citizens and any expat working here with kitas has finally gone-meaning we can exit the country without this financial taxation....any feedback/comments about this? |

Plenty of my Indonesian friends have been talking about this. It seems to be true. |

If the Fiskal is not thrown out and all this nothing more than rumor, I would suggest getting a tax number (tax card). When you present this upon leaving Indonesia, that 2.5 million Rupiah Fiskal disappears. All expats with a KITAS can obtain one legally, within a few hours, so it is easy to get.
I do, however, hope the rumor is true and they get rid of that ridiculous FISKAL...we all know that most of it goes into the pocket of the immigrasi officer you are dealing with anyways LOL |

How does one obtain an NPWP if your employer won't give it to you? |

If they won't give you the tax cardwhich is free to obtainthey probably aren't paying your income taxes. That site will give you all the information you need provided you can read Indonesian reasonably well. Your employer must fill out some paperwork in order for you to get the card. You can't simply show up at the office and request one. If only it were that simple. |

Apparently our taxes were being paid, as I'd have received an NPWP had I stayed on for a second year. The issue was that they didn't want to give them to first year teachers as it would have increased our chances of doing a runner. I had visions of all our NPWPs in the owner's office, being usefully put to work as coasters. |
