With the NHL playoffs approaching, here's a joke for the hockey fans out there.
_____________________________________________________________
Two boys are playing hockey on a pond in a park in Toronto, when
one is attacked by a rabid Rottweiler. Thinking quickly, the other
boy takes his stick, wedges it down the dogs collar and twists,
breaking the dog's neck...
A reporter, who was strolling by sees the incident, rushes over to
interview the boy. "Young Leafs Fan Save Friend from Vicious
Animal," he starts writing in his notebook.
"But I'm not a Leafs fan," the little hero replied.
"Sorry, since we are in Toronto, I just assumed you were" said the
reporter and starts again. "Little Jays Fan Rescues Friend from
Horrific Attack," he continued writing in his notebook.
"I'm not a Jays fan either," the boy said.
"I assumed everyone in Toronto was either a Leafs or Jays fan. What
team do you root for?" the reporter asked.
"I'm a Montreal Canadiens fan." the child said.
The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes, "Little
French B@stard from Montreal Kills Beloved Family Pet."
Behind enemy lines,

Canadians in Hell...
Two guys from Toronto die and wake up in hell.
The next day the devil stops in to check on them and sees them dressed in parkas, mittens and toques warming themselves around the fire.
The devil asks them, "What are you doing? Isn't it hot enough for you?"
The two guys reply, "Well, you know, we're from Canada, the land of snow and ice and cold. We're just happy for a chance to warm up a little bit, eh."
The devil decides that these two aren't miserable enough and turns up the heat.
The next morning he stops in again and there they are, still dressed in parkas, toques and mittens. The devil asks them again, "It's awfully hot down here, can't you guys feel it?"
Again the two guys reply, "Well, like we told ya yesterday, we're from Canada, the land of snow and ice and cold. We're just happy for a chance to warm up a little bit, eh."
This gets the devil a little steamed up and he decides to fix these two guys. He cranks the heat up as high as it will go. The people are wailing and screaming everywhere.
He stops by the room with the two guys from Canada and finds them in light jackets and bucket hats, grilling sausage and drinking beer. The devil is astonished, "Everyone down here is in abject misery, and you two seem to be enjoying yourselves."
The two Canadians reply, "Well, ya know, we don't get too much warm weather up there in Toronto so we've just got to have a cook-out when the weather's THIS nice."
The devil is absolutely furious, he can hardly see straight. Finally he comes up with the answer. The two guys love the heat because they have been cold all their lives. The devil decides to turn all the heat off in hell.
The next morning, the temperature is below zero, icicles are hanging everywhere; people are shivering so bad that they are unable to do anything but wail, moan, and gnash their teeth.
The devil smiles and heads for the room with the two Canadians. He gets there and finds them back in their parkas, toques, and mittens. NOW they are jumping up and down, cheering, yelling and screaming like mad men!!!
The devil is dumbfounded, "I don't understand, when I turn up the heat you're happy. Now it's freezing cold and you're still happy. What is wrong with you two???"
The Canadians look at the devil in surprise, "Well, don't you know? If Hell has frozen over, it must mean the Leafs have won the Stanley Cup!!!"

Thanks Shaman and Capergirl. Those jokes made my day.
To be a Leafs fan you have to have a sense of humour. |

Great jokes...I appreciated them, and I am a Yank! Foster is right, the Leafs have a decent shot at the cup this year, but I for one am hoping my favorite team wins:
The Lightning don't have a lot of tradition, but this is my team. In college, we used to go down to the arena and get tickets off scalpers for well under face value. They sucked then, but they are good now...Go Lightning! |

I enjoy the hockey jokes although I may get my Canadian membership revoked as I personally hate the sport.
*weakly* Go leafs! |

Kirk---the Bolts whipped the Leafs last night. 7 goals..They look good...
I expect Divine Intervention this year. God will send His /Her team---Montreal to the Cup as He/She has done at least once every decade in recorded history... |

Shonai Ben :> To be a Leafs fan you have to have a sense of humour
Ahh, someone else who survived the Ballard Days with his sense of hockey intact. What are your favourite, umm, well, most memorable memories of the Leafs' long lost years? Mine is Lanny MacDonald's OT goal to upset the Islanders in, umm, the year that I graduated.
Kirk: Yes, TB looks good this year. Aren't Modin and Andreychuck both ex-Leafs? |

I remember that game.It was probably the best game the Leafs played and I missed it.I was out at a party and only saw the goal on the news. |

Now what kind of divine intervention is that? I live in mortal fear that I will never see the Grail in T.O. in my lifetime.

Either that or a slight masochistic streak. I'm a survivor of the Pal Hal regime too.
@ Capergirl: Still pretty cold here for spring...

Sure is, Shaman. I've promised my students the snow would be gone by the time they return from their break (end of April), but I'm not sure I even believe it myself. |

Hockey gods notwithstanding, the Habs HAVE the talent and the momentum to win the Cup. What other team has only lost 3 of their last 17? That's including last night's disappointment in Buffalo. Mike Ribeiro, Michael Ryder and Jose Theodore are ON FIRE. Remember, this is the same team that upset Boston in the first round last year after a much less convincing season. Let's make it 25!!!! |
