I am wondering what else I would need to add in order to obtain a position in either the PNET or SNET scheme?

Qualifications
1. Current teaching license, elementary education (United States)
2. 5 years of ESL experience in Korea (private academies)
3. BS Education
4. 3 years corporate training experience

If I pick up a TEFL cert, will that help?

Looks like you have the most important quals and experience, so if I were you I would go ahead and apply (otherwise you'll be too late for the 2011-12 academic year). Yes, a TEFL cert might help, but isn't essential prior to appointment - they are happy for you do do one in the first year or two following appt. You could mention your intention to do one in the appn.

Make sure that any 'proof of emplyment' certificates that you will need to pick up from previous employers in Korea are all done in English and stamped by the schools too....

A TEFL/TESL is now required before application. Schools were informed of this requirement last year.
Check out the EDB site which lists the various categories for appointment.

Yes it can be an online course. The NET Section of the EDB has a list of approved courses. You will have to contact them to check which courses they will accept.
