Hi all,

This may be a silly question, but I would like your take on this. I have a Juris Doctor degree and am a practicing attorney in California, but I hate it. I love teaching (have been teaching law part-time for 2 years and taught French several years ago) and am planning to take a CELTA course in March. But I am wondering if I should just list my undergraduate degree in French & German on my CV??? I really am ready to walk away from law altogether. My main concern is convincing a prospective employer of this.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Kelly

No. A post-grad degree will be a plus, even if it's not relevant. It's nothing to play up particularly, as it's not related, but I wouldn't leave it off. It's reputable Smile

In China, it may qualify you for an additional 500 RMB/month at a university.

That's the nice thing about China: Being overqualified is not a problem.

It may depend on where you want to work. Also, if you want to try teaching business English, that will be a plus.

Just be aware that teaching law and teaching English to non-native speakers are totally different animals. You may like teaching law to native speakers, but...

Thanks for the responses and input. I am already teaching English online, and I definitely recognize the difference, but I love it.
