Is this a viable place to research International Schools? They charge 29 Dollars to join, which is fine if they are a good organization.

It tells you the good, bad, and ugly about many schools. I think it's worth it - I've renewed 3 years running.

The forum is free and somewhat useful as well. I say somewhat as it seems to get only a fraction of the traffic the Cafe does, but there is still valuable information to be had.

It's a completely different audience that this site. Int'l schools are discussed very little here, and that is all that is discussed at ISR.

I took your advice and it was money well spent. Lots of info that the folks at the job fair probably wouldn't mention. Thanks!

Yes, it's money well spent for those teachers serious about teaching at international schools around the world. Schools and directors are reviewed and the comments can be very helpful in deciding where to go or not to go. I check it daily and it can make for very interesting reading.

Another thing I would recommend is signing up for a fair like UNI because you can see very specific pay and benefits for schools all over the world. It costs $150 (even if you don't go) but it's good for research. You can bet that most schools within a region are the same both for salary/benefits.

Right. My point was about traffic, not content. I have often pointed people to the site who come here asking about ISs.

You see the salaries and benefits when you sign up? Are you referring to the UNI Overseas Fact Sheet Book? Is this viewed online or is it a physical book that comes in the mail? I believe you can pay $30 just for the book (another 30 if you are overseas)

Am also a member. It's not that much money really. I've learnt a lot from the reviews and made some future plans about regions and so on. That's pretty much all you get though, access to the reviews. I do like their (bi?) weekly email with links to all the newer ones.
