|

I have a question, I hope someone can help me with. I had a short contract that didn't fill my whole 1 year of my visa. I received a re-entry permit, but I may not be coming back to Japan under the same job. If I don't have a specific job lined up, by my visa is still valid for another 6 months or so, can I still fly back to Japan and interview? I have interviews and offers lined up, but I don't have any days off at my job, so I've had to reschedule them for later days.
I'm hoping to fly back for about two weeks and then come back to Japan. I have a place to stay, so that's not an issue. Just wondering what the rules about the visa are if I'm possibly coming back without a job.
Hope this makes sense. Any help would be appreciated. |

You can fly back and do interviews with or without that reentry permit. The thing about the REP is that is keeps your visa valid, so you can return and not start the visa process all over again. |

The visa is yours until it expires. As long as you have a valid re-entry permit, you are free to come and go as you please.
Of course, if you get a job not covered by your current visa status you'll need to apply for a staus change. |

Perfect. Thanks so much for the info guys. That's a relief, although there's still a possibility I may sign another contract with my current company, I have bites from other places I'd prefer. |
