| I am trying to figure out where Shanghai Maritime University is. They say they are in Pudong, but I'm not sure exactly what that means. Is Pudong the entire isthmus that is between Huangou river and the China sea, or does it refer to the area on the subway line just to the east of Shanghai proper. I have the address ( 1550 Pudong Dadao, Shanghai) but mapquest does not have detailed maps of china. Which brings me to another question, does anyone know of a mapquest-like site that can find street addresses in China? Also, any advice on the university itself would be appreciated. |

I haven't been to it, but its on my English Shanghai map; not online, unfortunately. Pudong Avenue runs parallel to, and just south of the Huangpu in an E-W direction. The Uni's not on the subway, though there are no doubt many bus connections. If you know Shanghai then distance-wise its about as far from People's Square as is the Hengshan Rd. bar strip: not very far in the overall Shanghai scheme of things, and certainly not way out near the coast or the Changjiang.
Sorry I can't be more accurate, but no-one thought to put a scale on the map. |

Found out today one of my adult students teaches there P/T.
She says its the PLA navy uni, and its on the bottom rung of Shanghai universities, so the quality of student is about what you'd expect.
If the pay and conditions are OK its still worth considering, IMO. |
