I did a search through some topics to see if this was specifically addressed, but couldn't find anything, so I apologize if this is a rehash
I am looking into applying to ECC as I have finally made the decision to teach in Japan.
In weighing my choices, I think I could manage the airfare if I am accepted for an initial interview with ECC in Toronto. My biggest question, if I spend the money to get myself to Toronto, and IF I am fortunate enough to get a return interview, is it going to be at a much later time? I can splurge for one trip, but no way I can go for two separate trips. |

Assuming you're offered an interview, you're in luck; there is no second interview with ECC. |

Yeah, this is all a big "IF", I'm just weighing my options. So it all takes place in one day then the rest is via phone or email? My biggest fear for pursuing ECC is being required to make a second trip to Torono anywhere down the hiring line, or its only a one time face-to-face deal? The only reason I ask for confirmation is because I read somewhere on here that someone got "called back" for a personal interview with ECC. Thank you for your help! |

I interviewed with Aeon, so your experience with ECC may be different, but they did their group session and personal interviews over 3 days. My group session was on a Saturday and since I was staying close by, I had my personal interview on the following Monday. |

From what I understand, the only way(s) they could ask you for a second interview is if:
1) You live locally in Toronto, or
2) You got the job, but were not placed in the following year, at which point I believe they ask you come in for another interview (though this is only from what I've read on this forum, and does not appear to be common).
If you do not fall into either of these categories, you should only be asked to visit Toronto once over a weekend or something. Ever since my interview with ECC, I've mostly been in contact with them via email (with one or two phonecalls at a couple of points where immediate contact was required).
I hope this helps ease your concerns. |

If you have to travel for your interview- they will not ask you to come back to Toronto for anything else. You get the whole interview/information session/grammar test/Q&A panel all in one (long) day. If there is anything else they forgot to address or if they want you to submit additional documents to go along with your application, they will ask that you either Email or Post the documents to them.
If you pass the interview/hiring session screening- then that is it and you are hired with them. They will let you know via Email and that is how you will be in contact for most everything with them until your departure to Japan. (perhaps an occasional phone call for an urgent matter, but I only had interaction with them entirely through Email)
All of what wispechoes said is correct. If you're worried about costs- think of it as an investment if you do get the job. It's not exactly the easiest process on your wallet- as there are the initial travel costs to the interview, lodging while in the area, postal/shipping fee for mailing documents (if hired) and you have to foot the bill for the plane flight to Japan if you are hired as well.
All things considered, it is by no means a "cheap" process and it can take upwards of 6-8 months from interview to departure, so make sure to keep your day job in the mean time! |

you only interview once. You'll find out in about 3 weeks if you got the job after the interview. Just make sure you brush up on your grammar, because their 100 question test in no joke. The rest of the interview is a breeze |
