Hi, Im an Australian guy. Travelling to Taiwan at the end of this month. I am looking to be based over there for a year or two and teaching English either at a school or private tuition. English is my native language, I have a degree but dont have any ESL qualifiactions.
I read somewhere that you can save $US1000 / month teaching English full time in Taiwan. Is that realistic ? Or maybe a thing of the past.. Do you know if it's better to contact schools before leaving my home country or on arrival over there ? Also any other things I need to be aware of... would be great to have any advice from people over there at the moment or anyone whose taught in Taiwan in the past...
many thanks

Hey, that's realistic.
I usually save about that much and my pay is about average.
In my case, I do alot of traveling on the week-ends and still save.
It also depends if you live in a big city or not. I live 30 mins out of Taichung, good location....
So it will depend on your lifestyle and where you live! |

| You can save that kind of money if you don't spend your money like a drunken sailor, and live somewhere other than Taipei. |
