Hello, I am a very Green teacher lol i have done a TEFL course last September for a month.
I am looking at jobs in china, some say they come with training and others don't. As I am really very very very new and I would feel much better about having a little training first on the job before I go straight in at the deep end. but these jobs that specifically say they come with training seem to be few and far between (does that mean that most of them have training and so most don't mention it as its obvious? or..), also the ones that say they come with training seem to be the ones that require a BA strange? ( I don't have a BA By the way) so I guess my question is do they expect me to come there firing on all cylinders completely aware of what i have to do and how to do it, as FRANKLY I have no f876ing Idea? I speak English and that is about it. although I am committed to learning and expect to have no problem with it as long as I have training... am just a little worried they will chuck me in at the deep end and my head will explode
please help.. O

Keep your chin up. Training is for weak people.
Good Luck. |

Summer schools will be hiring soon so 8 weeks of that plus an online ESL course should get you started. It will also bring you into contact with ESL teachers already in China who are making a little extra.
Most importantly you will see the reality of China (also feel and smell it) and that may be enough to put you off.
2nd tier provincial cities and provincial level colleges are the place to look for permanent work.

Training is a natural part of the teaching process, the more you teach, the more you learn and know, the basics of hands-on training.
With a 4-week TEFL course under your belt you should be fine at first. Stick with it for a few years and whala, you'll be a fully qualified TEFLer!
Teach kids at first, a lot of kindies and language schools in China don't or won't care if you have a BA.
Buenas suerte! |
