Hi,
I've been offered a job at Eiko School in Yamaguchi prefecture, hikari city...this is my first teaching job and I'm just wondering if anyone has heard anything about this school, good or bad, and also any questions i should ask them. they have offered to switch my visa from a working holiday to a proper working visa, the starting wage is 230000/mth and after 6 months 240000/mth with a completion bonus of 50000 yen. 40 hour work week, half teaching, half prep, and an apartment for between 40-45000 month. winter break, summer break, and golden week off. any suggestions or comments would be great!

Am I correct to assume your school is a language school and not a public school?

I have also been talking to someone there at the school who is looking for a second English teacher. I'm so unsure about this school.

The pay and conditions sound about average for eikaiwa work. Ask them if there is paid transportation, subsidy of any kind for health insurance, and if they provide unemployment insurance.

Yes, I'm quite unsure about it as well but Ive accepted the job because I need it, and at least I'll get experience. Ive heard some negative things about it but they said they will pay half my health insurance and I'm assuming transportation is paid for, as they have three schools to travel between...

That's a dangerous thing to do. There is no legal obligation for any employer to pay transport costs. Unless they have specifically stated that they will pay for transport, you should assume that they won't... better to be pleasantly suprised than horrified when you find out that all the money you have been budgetting on setting aside is going to be consumed by getting to and from work.
