Hi folks....anybody got an info on a company called The Language in Surat Thani?? I am considering a position out there to teach esl with some drama.
25k to start rising to 28k with free accomadation...is this good/bad for this area teaching 26 hours a week (o/t paid after 20 hours).
any info greatly appreciated |

IF that is 25-28k + 6 hours of overtime per week (plus decent housing) you are doing OK.
If that is 25-28k and includes your 6 hrs of OT then either you don't have a degree or are desperate for a job
AND
unless you are an old teetotaler who is not into chasing skirts you will find your month runs out before your cash does.
Side note: Even part time work pays 15k for 6-10 (contact) hours per week.

sorry tttompatz i mis read the ad. it actually says: 20 hrs + 2hrs overtime contact time. still not sure if the o/t included in the 25k or not.
Do you know anything of Surat Thani?
I would rather come to Thailand and then find work but money is tight. I saw this and thought maybe I could do this for a year seeing as there is accomodation thrown in even tho money not brill. I do have a degree in drama and a tefl cert and been teaching for over 10 years here in uk. |

20 + 2 should be paying 32k for the 20 hours and 660b per week for the extra 2 (2640 more per month) so ~34,640 per month.
Rents out in the province are CHEAP. (we (family of 3) pay 3000 for a 3 bedroom/2 bath house house (with mod cons) and our utilities (including internet, cable TV, cooking gas, water and electric (2 AC units)) run less than 3000 per month).

aaaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh i really want to be out there and so much to think about. If i did come out i would only prob have about �1000 after flight etc. not sure if this enough until i got a job.
will head south tho thats a definite. |

Teaching what exactly? ESL? |
