Is it just me or is the internet CRAP in HCMC? I am in my second place now; the first one was bad, and this one is worse. Maybe it is my fault for not checking the connection before hand; but it is so bad that I can barly use Skype or other IMs, and I barely chat with friends and family back home. The lag on getting messages is horrible. What are your experiences? What should I do?

I am in District 1 too, and the landlady assures me that she has the fastest internet connection. Doubt it.

I've lived in four different districts and the internet always worked well. The only time it didn't was when the power went out.
If you're using wireless see if your landlady is using an old/crappy router. If she is I'd suggest buying her a new one. A few extra bucks for you but better than paying for your own internet, your other option. |

I've had a ton of issues with two different computers and multiple connections in D1. My current place has two 2-4Mb connections running, but they're crap half the time. For Skype/gaming, it's really hit or miss: today, you can, tomorrow maybe not, maybe wait two hours, etc. OR works for 30 minutes, then a few minutes of issues, then back again, over and over, which is fine for Skype, but miserable for gaming.
Landlord said that both providers said the connections were "just for browsing. They can't guarantee for Skype, sometimes it works." We've put him through a good bit of effort to fix it, and he's clearly put time and money into it, so I dunno. Is there some specific provider that I should ask about at the next place? I'm fairly clueless about the local providers and packages. |
