It doesn't feature in the W'pedia section on education
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guangzhou#Higher_education_institutes
This indicates the school doesn't offer a full 4-year bachelors course.
I have taught at 2 vocational polytechnics and found the students great.
Have only spent 3 days in Guangzhou ( Spring Festival 2010).
Was agreeably surprised. Suggest you look at Weather Wunderground to see if summer temps are surviveable for you. Doubt that classroms will be A/C in a vocational college.
Best of luck. |

I recently applied for the same position which I saw advertised here on Dave's.
I currently reside in the same area and can definitely tell you, it is not in Guangzhou. It is around 90 minutes from downtown/Tianhe GZ. It will also take you around 20 to 30 minutes to get to downtown ZC/Gualu.
The Chinese have a way of saying a place "belongs" to a certain city. It is similiar to saying Philadelhia belongs to NYC. The only problem is that the school is isolated, just like Huashang College. You will find necessary things on campus or in the small shops just outside campus, but, if you want to go outside and walk around - happy country trails.
As previously stated, if you want to go to downtown GZ, it will take 90 minutes or so on a bus.
While the salary offered is somewhat good, if you are young and vibrant, life on the compound will drag on you.
Good Luck. |

compound, young and vibrant. Well if you are old and sedate, life will drag on you. You see even if you go to the places where the other foreigners are you will be sharing time with people who make 10 or 20 times what you make, which makes you a drag for them. The people here who are in business are not going to talk to you about literature.
I think it is a good idea having schools in industrial parks. When the students graduate they can get a job close to the school. |

Sounds like you're trying weed out any competition. |

I really don't care because I'm going to Guizhou.
Hopefully the OP has fun in Zengcheng, The place sucks with a capital S.
My new destination is much more interesting. I'll even earn less but don't care. Let it ride. |

Re the 'belongs to' issue.
The northern boundary of Dalian is at a small town called Gai Zhou which is three hours train ride north from Dalian. The southern boundary of Shenyang is just to the north and the actual Shenyang city is a further three hours north.
Makes it more understandable why the quoted population of some cities seems inflated. It is just that the municipal area is huge. |

I tried to work with Mike Zheng of Guangzhou Saintshine Education Service Co. Ltd. He is the recruiter for this college. He asks you to send all of your documentation up front, including your passport, schedules a Skype interview with you and then blows you off. It seems like a really high salary for a college that no one has ever heard of. I think he's shady, so be careful. |
