Does anyone have any information on Ameson Schools in China? Mostly near Shanghai. It is an American school for Chinese students to prepare them to study in the USA. Anything good or bad is ok. Thanks!

Students in these programs do not intend to take the gaokao (高考), the China college entrance examination. They have chosen a different path, one that leads directly to the ACT or SAT and college in the United States. Ameson patterns their program after the US Advanced Placement curriculum. As one might imagine, families that can afford such an expensive program are wealthy. The children have never wanted for anything, and many have never done a lick of work. Others are bright and ambitious. It's a corrosive mixture in this age group.

Ameson is a demanding employer. I personally have not worked for them, but I have shared office space with some Ameson teachers, mostly Chinese struggling to teach this rigorous program. I remember in particular one day when Ameson bosses from Nanjing abruptly visited our school to give two teachers the sack.
