I found a thread on this but it didn't really to my satisfaction. I was wondering what is the best way to acquire some Euros-at the bank or at the airport? Is there much difference in their rates? |

I spent a few months in a bunch of western European countries and got all of my money exclusively from ATM withdrawals. I got really good rates the whole time, though it was a bit sad to see my currency slowly becoming less valuable in my bank logs. If you're able to do that, it's definitely a good option. |

Seconded.
For the best rates it is normally better to getmoney out from ATMs (assuming that your bank doesn't charge horrendous fees for international withdrawls). But don't make the mistake of paying by card in stores since more than a few will add an extra processing fee because you are using a foreign card.
In second place are normally Bureau de Change but you often have to shop around for the best rates. And if you know where you are going, some places like Travellex will allow you to buy your currency in advance online and arrange a pick up date and store. This will often get you a much better rate than if you just dropped in to one of their branches to buy currency.
Airport exchanges nearly always work out the most costly. |

ATM withdrawals are the way to go I think. Bank 2nd, airport exchange last. Just make sure to call the number on the back of your debit card to let your bank know that you will be traveling so they don't lock you out. |
