Hello all,
My friend, Leo Viche, was hit and killed by a train in Osaka two weeks ago.
He was a teacher in Sendai.
I was wondering if any of you knew him or had heard about this accident.
Thanks,
Aaron

That is terrible news. Train platforms have always seemed a bit dangerous to me, especially when packed with people. |

Well, it was a train accident...
regardless of whether it was a suicide or not, you'll find no news about it |

I haven't heard about any foreigners hit by a train in the news lately.
I'm just trying to visualize what the situation may have been where he found himself on the train tracks. In other words, it's seems strange and maybe you can tell us what happened?
On that note though I did read about a Canadian teacher killed in Busan a month or so ago who was hit by a train. May have been suicide. No one really knows except that he was probably drunk. |

The only news I could find about him was in the Arizona Daily Star. I did come across some photos though a Google search that he had taken of various places in Miyagi. |

Facebook said he lived in Osaka, not sendai...
As for what I said before... Japan doesn't publish any notice of suicides/accidental train deaths in the newspaper... unless it's a rarity I think (like a train hitting a car because the driver was drunk or something...)
Due to past instances, news isn't released publicly, because they fear they might make it a popular trend or inspire copycats. |
