I am currently teaching at a uni but I do not expect to stay at it for another year. However, I am enjoying my time in China and would like to teach for another year, just at a different university.
Do I have to go back to my home country for another visa? Or can I just do all the paperwork again from within China? |

China doesn't seem to have restrictions like Korea has (with needing a criminal background check), so I would say as long as you submit the same paperwork you did before to the next school they would get an invitation letter. From there, you just go to Hong Kong or Korea and come back with a work visa. I have seen some posts stating they didn't leave the country, but I wouldn't count on it.
I am finding out that there are 2 and 3 month visas they will issue you, you just have to leave the country and re-enter with it. A Chinese guy I am renting from told me last night a guy from Lithuania is doing this and then gets a tourist visa. He tells the Chinese Entry/Exit Bureau he is looking for work. Then he gets hired by a company and applies for a work visa. |

pssst......dos....you're like in china already, dude.
workin' legal and all, right? got an rp in yer passport?
so why would you need a new visa to enter a
country you're already resident in?
you'll do some paperwork, but it won't be the same,
as you don't need an invitation letter to come to china.
the process as i understand it, as i'm planning on moving
to a new province in a few months....
contact potential employer. get job offer. accept offer.
send them scans of diploma, FEC, health certificate,
passport, current RP, mugshot.
they send you addendum to standard safea contract.
you sign and return.
get recommendation/release letter from current employer,
send to new school.
they apply for new FEC. (it may be possible to transfer
current FEC if staying in same province...can anyone
confirm??)
move to new school, they will apply for your new RP.
a new health exam may be required, depending...
i assume the current employer will handle all the
formalities at this end - canceling RP and FEC -
unless they simply are allowed to expire.
****did i forget anything????**** |

I've only taught in South Korea and the paperwork process requires you to go back to America to get a new visa and do the entire thing all over again if you want to change jobs.
I was hoping that wasn't the case in China as well. |
