Currently I am teaching English at an elementary school in South Korea. I am loving it. Before coming out to SK i got my TEFL certification. I have 6 more months left on my contract and I am not planning on renewing my contract.

My plan for after my contract ends is to head to South America to find a job teaching English. I want to go to either Argentina, Chile or Equador but I am open to most countries in South America. I have some questions that I would like answered so that I can start planning.

1. Do I need to speak fluent Spanish to teach English in South America?

2. Should I go through a company or wait till I get to South America to find a job?

3. If I wait to find a job once I get to South America could you please recommend some schools I should go to in the main cities of Chile, Argentina and Equador.

4. I already have my TEFL certification. Should I go ahead and get another type of certification? If so, which one would be best to help me get a job in South America?

Thanks!

Nope

You mean a recruiter? There aren't many for SA. Schools post adverts, but lots of people find jobs while on the ground

I could tell you about Peru. Try posting on the country specific forums further down on the page.

If it's 120 hours with 6 of teaching practice, you should be fine. If not get a CELTA; Trinity, or SIT cert. Those are the three most well known.
