The vast majority jobs in Spain (as in most of Europe) aren't found from abroad. While there are occasionally exceptions, mostly you need to be there on the ground to interview in person.

This is unlike Asia, where many jobs involve TA work (this isn't common in Europe, either) and are often found from abroad.

Ah, sorry - I now realise that you are in Spain. I expect that you've just hit on a difficult time of year, when openings are in short supply in general. Good luck!

There are jobs in Madrid right now for general TEFL work - September and January were both slow starters, but there was a ton of work in October/November and the same thing happened in the new year - people panicking in January and now knocking back work in February. Keep at it and you'll find something Smile

Thank you for your reply. I have a full time job in Spain at the moment, but I am interested in working in a primary school as a classroom or teaching assistant rather than working for a language school. Do you know where I might find vacancies like this?
