Hi,
Is anyone familiar with these positions as advertised by Teachaway?
MOD EDIT
It seems to require QTS and a Masters, however there is no mention of the salary and benefits. Are there already people 'out in the field' working in these positions or is it just starting up?

Seems it is just starting up. I am generally pleased so far with the information and interaction I have gotten from my recruiter (teachaway). Some of the info is redundant, and there are specifics that are not yet ironed out. But honestly, if you utilize common sense, you can mitigate some of the damage...moving to another country is always full of it's pitfalls...you never know what you're gonna get, so always be prepared.
But honestly, I have not been dissatisfied with the treatment/details I have received. My recruiter gets back to me promptly and usually has an answer to my inquiry. Although, I will say that I don't contact her with stupid inquiries...
Seems to be a decent gig. One I am going for anyway.... |

When it comes to salary and benefits it might be better ask and get specific answers rather than relying on common sense . |

I to have just been contacted as a possible candidate for this teachaway position in Malaysia. My acquired information tells me that the salaries vary from about $2300 to $3500US depending upon the position offered. |

Hi saw another company advert where a friend works at 7,000 rm per month. A few years ago the BC were advertising at 7,500 rm per month. Both 2 years experience with celta and degree. Qts jobs should pay at least 10k rm and above.
Malaysia seems to pay low as few jobs. In Thailand with qts I am being offered above 100,000 baht (= 10,000rm) per month and that is a popular destination but more int schools as more expats/rich locals. Rich malaysians seem to send their kids to UK (often on state scholarships!) so less demand it seems. I have anninterview soon with a malaysian int school. I'm expecting a silly offer which I will have to negotiate as I reckon even if I live off 6k a month (Inc hol savings) I need12k gross with tax and pension savings (no point working just for now). From my experience I need 50% more in KL salary wise than Bangkok due to higher expenses and taxes. |
