Hi. I'm coming over to Barcelona in a couple weeks and intend on getting round as many schools as possible. Which areas are most of the schools located in? I'd like to know in advance of booking my accomodation. Cheers. |

There are schools all over the city so I would suggest that you stay near Placa Catalunya. This is the city's major transport hub so it would make getting around the city easy. |

Yea, the schools are all over the place and the bus and metro system is pretty good so you shouldn't have much problem where ever you stay. I agree with rafaella though, anywhere near passeig de gracia/placa catalunya would be ideal.
There are also a fair few schools on the outskirts/just outside Barcelona which you should consider getting in touch with, especially as it's not the best time of the year for finding jobs.
Best of luck. |

Thanks guys.
Well, as often is the case, my accomodation has been dictated by finances. I'm going to be staying near Parc Guell.
Haven't decided how I am going to approach the stay yet. Treat it as a holiday and get a feel for the place, or go all out looking for employment. Doesn't sound like there is going to be much work available. Guess I need to get an email sent off to all the schools I can find and see what response I get. |

Well, it's definitely not the best time to be looking but if you're really determined you might be able to get enough hours together to keep you going. Remember that things go very quiet in summer though, so bear that in mind before you make any long-term financial commitments such as renting a flat.
One thing I would strongly suggest is that you go and see the schools in person rather than just emailing them. You are far more likely to get some work (assuming anything is going) if you approach it that way. It's very easy to ignore an email! Employers will want to meet you anyway and see what you are like. Good luck! |

I decided just to treat it like a vacation and get a feel for the city. It rained pretty relentlessly!
However, I have now secured short term employment elsewhere in Spain. Might try Barcelona again in the summer. |

You did well to find a job at this time of year. If you head back to Barcelona in September, you'll probably find work and you'll have some experience in Spain behind you which will be valuable. |
