I have an unlocked Blackberry smartphone from the US. I was wondering if cellphone companies in Japan support the BB and if they give out sim cards, etc?

Also, how much is a phone plan with internet in Japan.

Thanks.

Have you searched threads here or spent 5 minutes on google? I'm assuming not because the answers are in both places.

Let me see if I can help you. It seems to be a rite of passage to get your head bitten off for not searching well enough on the board........welcome!

I don't live in Japan yet, however I think that an unlocked blackberry will work with a Japanese sim card. I found both "yes" and "no" answers when I did my search. Here is one that says yes!

Thank you for the two intelligent posts showing that you are both incredibly lazy and feel a deep sense of entitlement. WAAH I DON'T WANNA SPEND 30 SECONDS SEARCHING, SPOON-FEED ME ANSWERS Crying or Very sad

PS: "How much is a phone plan with internet in Japan" is a question, which in English means that you have to put a question mark at the end of it. "I was wondering..." is NOT a question, and should NOT have a question mark at the end. Hope this helps on the intelligence front.

Docomo provides BB services. Signing up for their cheapest calling plan and their Pake-houdai Double*, your bill will be anywhere from 1,860 to 7,455 JPY. I'm not sure if they'll let you use your US phone, but I leaning towards no. If you have a Japanese speaking friend or if you speak enough Japanese, hit up a Docomo shop and just ask.

* Packet rates max out at 5,985 JPY and they force you to sign up for it.

Wow, it's incredible how rude some people can be to an OP with a perfectly legitimate question...

If you don't feel his questions warrants your time, or feel that he should have Googled it first, simple: don't reply!

It's not like he's killing babies, causing global warming, or costing taxpayers their money...

No need to be a dick to the guy!

I couldn't agree more!

The internet is not full of absolute truths. It is a good idea to get information from multiple sources before you move to the other side of the earth.

However, I do understand that seeing the same questions pop up on the forums over and over again could be very annoying. I just don't see how it helps to be rude to new posters.

Thank you for everyone's constructive reply. Seems like people who attack my post would rather kick a person down than actually lend a hand into making society a better place. Isn't that the reason why we all wanted to be teachers?

My gratitude to the links and positivity. *cheers*

No. I disagree. The guy is asking an inanely basic question and expects people to find the answer for him. This place is *not* here to do his homework. If he can't be bothered to find out an answer to even the most basic of questions then why should anyone enable him? He will simply become more a burden when (if) he ever makes it to Japan. *I* don't want to have to deal with another person with a sense of entitlement wandering about Japan, failing to cope.

It is *not* inappropriate to tell someone to take responsibility for themselves at even the most basic level.

I was talking more about Bread's tirade than your remark.

Your remark may have been somewhat brusque, but Bread's was just downright malicious, rude, and uncalled for.
