Ok, has anyone heard of "Interlingua" or "Delter"? Any ideas what they're like?? They both seemed a bit ready to accept me, and I always thought that was a bad sign!!!! Any other schools in China (Beijing preferably) that are worth applying for? Sorry guys, I'm a newbie and I really don't have a clue!!! |

If you are a Newbie, like I was seven months ago, the best thing is to go where you are offered a good deal in an area that suits you - weather wise or size.
Weigh up all the pros and cons and just go for it. It is all a matter of luck really.
The next peice of advice would be to only sign a 6 month contract initially - you can always extend it but you may be pleased if you are not really happy there.
I love this School but three teachers have "done a runner" from here in the past two months and I am at a loss to explain why. So, even if a School is recommended to you, it does not necessarily mean that you will like it there. It is a very indivual thing, I have come to realise - some people have higher expectations than others. |

If you check out the Job Information Journal, there are some posts about Delter. Looks pretty sketchy. |

"Interlingua" - don't know; I knew INLINGUA, a western-owned school that is run by franchisors in China. In general, it's not bad.
As for DELTER - the word is that this school has improved greatly over the last years. Previouisly, it hadc a twilighty reputation.
But these are not schools anyway - these are training centres. As always, they are run by private businessmen. You need to take your bearings from the various posts on various private employers then. |

I interviewed with Delter (aka Telfort college) in Shanghai about 3 years ago, was offered three thou.-something plus a 2-room flat in a dorm for 25hrs/week. I asked around, heard only negative comments and went with someone else.
I heard that the DOS there got fired about 2 years ago, and that's the most recent gossip I have heard - nothing positive, nothing negative.
Suggest you compare what they're offering with other schools, though, as they used to have a reputation for the lowest pay. |
