To issue a new work visa, the age limit is 60. |

Interesting,
Last September at the age of 65, I was issued a two year work visa.

Clarification: a new work visa meaning for someone who is entering Oman for the first time.
If over the age of 60, and have worked in Oman, an employer can apply for a waiver to issue a work visa--be it a transfer or new issue.
Ministry direct hire employees at the Colleges of Technology are transfered to the recruiting companies when they reach the age of 60. The recruiting companies then apply for waivers. Note: there are limits to the number of times a person can receive a waiver--again, related to age. |
