Hey,
ONE THING
This is probably an annoying question. My Ipod is broken, and I need some suggestions on where to take it. It's the hole that you put the earphones in that needs to be replaced. I've taken it to several small shops who think I need new earplugs, then send me packin when they find out it's a little more complicated than that.
Ideas?
OTHER THING
I've been searching for an ELECTRONIC scale for you know, weighing myself. I've scoured Vincom, diamond plaza, and Nguyen Kim which only has the ones with the little hand that points rather obscurely in Kg. Tried to order one off Amazon and apparently scales are one of the many things forbidden to cross the great divide.
FINAL THING
Is there any other kind of search/post/discussion for HCMC on the web where I can ask my silly, irrelevant, and probably annoying questions? I realize this is an ESL work related site so I hate plugging it up with my drivel. Any other groups you know of that might better serve the purpose of finding creature comforts in this big city? Don't say Craigslist... rubbish.

For the ipod repair, check out this place, http://www.thuanmy.com/home.php?cat_id=57. They're an authorized Apple Reseller, and they've done a lot of repairs/ordering parts on my MacBook. Their English is pretty decent, too.
A few great places to get information about shopping/living/etc as an expat are the "Phu My Hung Neighbors" google group (http://groups.google.com/group/phumyhungneighbours ) ... though you'll have to register to post or read anything, as well as the Saigon groups on Couchsurfing. There is always someone there to answer your question!
[most questions like "where can I buy skim milk?" have already been answered many times, so try searching the archives before posting]
Hope this helps! |

Take the ipod to the apple shop on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai in Dist1, it's near Neverlearn school. |

Just as a general response about 'electronics', I do not recommend any electronics shopping in Vietnam at all. Once settled in Vietnam the best thing to do is to take a few annual trips to Bangkok, where the selection is not only far greater but prices more fathomable. Shops in Vietnam usually have low selection and tend to be monopolistic. |
