Some of you might have noticed on the job boards that there is the "Spainwise 2011: Spain's 3rd National TEFL Job Fair" being held on 21st May 2011. It is in Cordoba and apparently "has presentations and stands from language schools and organizations from many different parts of the country", as well as some workshops and seminars.

I was just wondering if anyone has attended a similar event in the past and if they found it useful and if they gained interviews or employment from it? Did they make some good contacts and get some good advice regarding their job search? Or did anyone think it was a bit of a let down?

I'd love to have gone but why the hell are they holding it in Cordoba? Why not the bloody centre and capital of the country?

No experience as it goes, but I imagine it'd be more for schools trying to recruit experienced/qualified teachers, or those from schools in out of the way places.

I wondered about the location too. Lovely city but the not easiest place to get to!

I'm also considering attending this event in the hope of securing employment for the next school year. Got to be better than sending out bulk emails that never get returned, right?

If you can get the time off and get there fairly easily, then you might as well go along. On the Spainwise website you can see a list of the confirmed exhibitors. That information may help you to decide if it's worth your while.
