In Korea and Japan, contracts are pretty much set in stone. There is very little room for changes, and when you get changes put in the schools still behave as if they aren't there.

In China though, I am noticing they like to make changes to the contract and not tell you about them.

A recruiter told me a school wanted me to work 5 days TOTAL at a public school and at a language school for the remaining hours. It would be Saturday and Sunday at the language school. Before I went to give the demo the recruiter said she was mistaken and that I only needed to teach at the public school. I found this odd because I wouldn't be teaching that many hours for a salary twice the amount university teachers get. I figured this was just maybe a ploy to get me to go to the school to give the demo. I go to give the demo and in the car they point to the language school "you WILL teach at." Ok, so no big deal. I will teach the remaining hours there. Saturday and Sunday are back.

Then, in the contract it only says Monday to Friday. I ask them to clarify this, which 5 days do they want me to teach.

They wanted me to move Wednesday (tomorrow) when I went to give the demo. However, now they are changing the contract and I am not sure what is going on. I am thinking the public school wants me to teach Monday to Friday and the language school wants me to teach on weekends, so they thought up the following scheme.

They added this to the contract, "The Teachers working hours will be arranged according to the School schedule. Working days are from Monday to Friday. All the classes in the public school are scheduled in the daytimes. The left classes might be scheduled in the Fridays and Sundays evenings, but the classes in the evenings will not exceed 7 periods in any week. The School may from time to time have special functions, such as School promotions and other important activities. The Teacher may be expected to attend such activities when required."

I don't know why they worried about the evening class count, if I teach 1 it cuts the evening up anyway and I can't do anything. I would rather keep the hours within a 5 day period.

Is this an unreasonable expectation or should I stand firm on what was originally advertised? I have worked 6 day schedules before, and you just sit there with gaps of time. You can't go anywhere because in 2-4 hours you have another class.
