| The guy who I spoke with for the phone screening told me at the end of the call that I had made it to the next round of interviews. |

| Well that is a bit discouraging. Hopefully there are some people they call back after some further consideration. |

Like Ruby, I was also told at the end I made it to the interview seminar.
Don't be too disheartened because I do know there have been cases where people were notified later that they made it to the seminar stage as well via email. |

| Thank you both for the information. Not exactly good for my prospects, but it is good to know I may still have a chance. |

| I was also told I made the next round at the end of the phone screening. However I have heard that this is not always the case. Good luck! |

Thanks mstoffer. Was your phone screening done recently?
According to an Interac facebook page that explains the whole process in detail, I should hear yay or nay within a week of the screening.....if the information is accurate that is.
I sure hope it pans out. |

I did it a couple months ago (decided to go with another company). The interviewer did say something like "normally we wait and discuss before inviting to the next round" before he told me so I think you are correct that normally you would expect to hear in a week or so.
Good luck! Interac seems like a great company, I enjoyed the communications I had with them and I know a couple former Interac employees that enjoyed their experiences. |

It makes sense that they go ahead and snag up the properly qualified on the spot, and then fill in the gaps with the newbies or less than qualified.
Good to know that I may still be in the running.
Thanks! |

I am officially out of the running. This was my first interview so I am trying to not be too dissapointed. At the very least I learned a little by going through the process.
What I am wondering now is if I want to give Interac another try in the future do I need to resubmit a new online application, will they keep me on file and contact automatically, OR should I make contact via their recruiting email box once in a while? This is assuming that no other positions end up working out. |

| Sorry to hear that. Don't be too disappointed though and keep trying; I had some setbacks before I landed my gig which ended up being the best possible situation. Is your goal just to teach English specifically in Japan? You could try again for Interac later or JET if you like the idea of being an ALT. Or if you are open to being more of the fulltime teacher in the private English schools you can look at ECC, Aeon / Amity, Peppy Kids Club. If you are willing to look at Korea, China or Taiwan, you have MANY more options too. |

I am definitely going to keep trying. I have been seriously considering this for about two years now and would say at this point I am still set on Japan. I will definitely be quitting my current job here in Qatar this July, and will be better able to attend interviews in person.
The Interac position was slated to start in late August and would of provided an absolutely perfect (in my mind) transition out of here, but alas it was not to be.
I will be 27 come May, and after learning about these opportunities in Japan I wish I would of heard of them MUCH SOONER!!! I have been fascinated with Japan since I was very young, but the idea of working in Japan seemed about as remote as working on the International Space Station. Guess I should of actually sat down and considered it much earlier instead of assuming it was impossible.
Thanks again! |

Looks like I landed an interview with ECC in Toronto on the 24th. Just happened to schedule my vacation over that way (ohio) during the same time frame.
Heavy research on ECC seminar is now under way. Not sure what to think hearing how competitive the market is these days combined with my generic degree and 0 formal teaching experience.
Will be a great learning experience at a minimum and I have never been to Toronto. So there are still positives to be had by taking part in this. |

| ECCs interview process is no joke, but jobs are there for those with no teaching exp for sure. A lot of people have been discussing tips for the ECC interview session recently so do a quick search of the boards. PM me if you are having trouble and want some pointers! |

Thanks mstoffer. I have read numerous times that the grammar test is a little difficult, and am currently studying for that.
I have also started to put together some possible questions for the opening session and ideas for demo lessons.
geez this stuff is nerve wracking! |
