$60,000 is not bad. Must have been more than a couple of years though. I suspect you put the money in sterling and euros and watched your dollars increase without doing anything.

The salary seems lower than it really is at the moment because the dollar is so low compared to the pound or the euro. In my experience the pound tends to hover around the SR6 mark, so the salary was unduly high in pounds for about three years and now is unduly low.

somebody once said that when you come to Saudi you get two buckets. One of them is labelled s h i t and the other is labelled m o n e y. When either of them is full you leave.

You seem to have been lucky enough to have them both overflow at the same time, though I'd put that deposit down on the maisonnette in the Home Counties before you find that even $60,000 won't be enough.

What an extraordinary exchange. If there were a Dave's Best Thread of the Month award, this one must win. (Is that English?!)

I know where Canvey Island is. No wonder you are such a character, Boy!
A friend of mine is from Sowffend, and he has a similarly volatile wit. You are alienated Londoners, at bottom.

If there is one aspect of ME life you have shed some illumination on, and which I find distasteful, it is the arrogance of your employers and other natives of the land. The young Muslims of my country are very much inthe news these days, for various related reasons. The vibe they are giving off is one of breathtaking arrogance and entitlement. Humility is not, I gather, a Muslim trait? I'm not sure I would want to teach young people like that.

Some egregious examples--

Boy wonder

Maybe your fellow cockney Arfur Dailey knows someone in the Home Office.

I truly admire your attitude that everything is for sale.

Re.....last message...further devaluation of the Dollar leaves me no option but to offload both Grandma's falsies..and my crystal clear conscience.
They will both be advertised on Ebay...starting bids will be around a fiver for the pair.......

And I can't say fairer than that my love!!!

On reading this thread, I notice that Boy Wonder's father is a postman, which means that he is not yet retired, i.e. under the age of 65. Then later, I notice that Boy Wonder is aged 58. Surely, we should all be able to work out BW's real identity by simply checking the Guinness Book of Records to see who the only 7 year old boy who fathered a child is. Very Happy Mr. Green

Hola Manuel,
Age is a funny thing!
When i came to the ME 5 yrs ago i was a fresh faced, innocent 13 yr old.

Now 16349 days later i have turned into a greying, balding, stooped, rambling, quivering wreck......must be the fast pace of life out here!!

my father tells me he's 65 but maybe he's been kidding me all these years....and really he's 85 or something! could be the wonder of oil of ulay, viagra and having me as his youngest son!!!!
