Hi everyone,
I will finish my MA TESOL in December and be certified to teach ESOL in my state. Vietnam is one of the places i'm considering teaching when I'm done. Do you think it is too far in advance to contact schools now about starting at the beginning of the 2nd term (around Jan. 1st, 2012)? Is it better to wait?
Thanks!

Hi Natalielenina,
I don't know how much experience you have, but with an MA you should be looking for better than the regular language mills. Perhaps a good idea would be to start researching ACET, RMIT, British Council and UQ in Danang. Even without experience you probably will be competitive at most of those places (if not all) with an MA. The international schools may also be an option.
Personally I would hold off for now in regards to making contact simply because the schools/universities won't know yet what their staffing requirments will be at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. ACET will accept applications at any time but as to the others you should maybe check it out. I am not sure what other people think, but if it was me I would probably wouldn't start applying until September at the earliest. However, that's just my two cents and other posters may be more knowledgeable.
Good luck to you Natalielenina. |
