I am looking for a SEP recognized teacher training course that would help me qualify to teach in Colegios or Universities. I am unwilling to pay 21,000 pesos for the CELTA at IH, and prefer not to have to wait until January to start at CELE-UNAM. I know of the course at Universidad Panamericana, but they don't seem to have any courses starting in the near future either. In previous posts, I read that a regular contributor mentioned knowledge of an inexpensive, SEP-recognized teacher training course, but does not give the name of the course. Unfortunately, I can't send PMs at the moment. Perhaps that user or any other could provide me with some information. Thanks.

The program at UP starts twice a year, and is similar in content to the CELE, even has some of the same teachers. The other low cost program I know about is a course given by a school called American Team, they have several branches, but they are all in the airport area, or the northern part of the city. Not hard to get to, but a bit off the beaten path. The upside of that is that there are always new programs starting, so you dont have to wait too long for a new one to start. And with the new SEP requirement for English teachers having a Teachers Diploma, I suspect there will be more courses offered this summer. Between the two, I would more highly recommend the course at UP, which I have taken and have first hand knowledge of, but the outline of the course, and the materials I saw at American Team also looked pretty good, the content is pretty much the same, but the materials used are different.
