There are many mosques. Memorization of the Holy Koran is encouraged.
You can prepare for your Pilgrimage. God is good.

Hail is probably OK for direct hires. The pay is around 20% higher than at KFUPM, and my old boss is in charge of the English department so there shouldn't be any undue hassle there.

Accommodation is next to the countryside, so you had better be able to entertain yourself, as the nearest border is many hours drive away, and apparently the quality of restaurants is poor.

We did have one poster here who works there and he was fairly positive.

Dear Scott47,

Thank you for the information, but I am not interested in mosques...

no I wasn't implying that at all. I was just saying that it's a conservative place and there are A LOT of mosques. I would ahve said the same if you said you weren't interested in malls and chain restaurants.

A pal of mine worked there last year- he says Hail is very nice if you can do things on your own. It was not easy, but he is very social and has a car.

He said his place was nice, but dirty when he moved in, I think that the windows where open all summer. Most places seem to be dirty when you move in KSA, unless you work for BAE or something like that.

I have been teaching ESL for 11 years now and had no problem when I came to KSA, I think it is easier than Korea and Taiwan, or I'm just older now. Anyway, there is never a perfect job and most people here who have stress bring it on themselves.

Thank you for the encouraging words R.R,

I have children who are used to seeing parks in almost every street in their country, playgrounds everywhere, a very snowy winter, and a lovely spring... It is going to be very difficult for them to survive staying with a nanny, at home almost all the day.
